Mission

Strengthen U.S. Manufacturing Competitiveness

Emerging nations are aggressively challenging the U.S. position in manufacturing leadership. Outside of the U.S., many countries have already established research centers dedicated to finding energy-efficient alternatives for drying processes. The stakes are high for U.S. manufacturing companies in a wide range of industries as evidenced by the following:

  • Decline in U.S. share of global manufacturing goods in recent decades
  • Minimal growth of U.S. R&D investment since 2000
  • Significant gap in science and engineering professionals within U.S. versus China and India combined

CARD’s Mission is to have a positive impact on reversing these deficits with a national strategy that focuses expertise, resources, and investments in innovative R&D to develop sustainable manufacturing alternatives. CARD will serve as a catalyst for the efforts by industry, government, associations, universities, national laboratories, and other interested parties as related to drying of moist, porous materials.

CARD is distinguished by vigorous and open collaboration among all of these groups, to maximize every participant’s ideas and resources — and to accelerate the timetable for delivery of technologies that can be commercialized by our industry partners.

The benefits to our members and to the U.S. in general include investments in Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Product Quality. We also seek to improve product throughputs without loss of product quality.

Bottom Line: Increased Profitability & Eliminate Carbon Footprint
