Heating, Baking and Drying with Laser Technology for Food, Pulp and Paper, and Chemicals Industry Sectors > <

Overview

Laser for heating, baking, drying applications in food, pulp and paper, and the chemicals industry sectors is a novel concept. A laser-assisted process will use near infrared energy to impart energy, but with three profound differences. (1) The laser is highly directable. (2) The laser only heats the target (rather than the oven air and side walls). (3) The laser is a single wavelength enabling complex sensor systems to be positioned inside the oven. The incident heat flux on the target will be at least one order of magnitude higher than the corresponding convective heating.
